Christina Grehan has designs on a future in fashion.
The 18-year-old senior at Cox High School just wrapped up her third year of participation as a designer in Virginia Fashion Week’s annual runway show, which was held Oct. 12 in Williamsburg.
Grehan showed 10 outfits on the runway, and she won the $500 first prize in a separate contest for the best look inspired by a classic work of art.
But most of her time is devoted to learning about fashion. She has spent weekends in New York taking classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, which she hopes to attend after graduating from Cox next spring.
This summer, Grehan flew to London for two classes at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design, which Drzewiecki said is one of the top fashion design schools in the world.
Grehan went back to New York in late October for Teen Vogue Fashion University, where she met designers such as Nanette Lepore and designers for Dannijo accessories.
And on Nov. 20, Grehan was at the Princess Anne Country Club, helping her advanced fashion marketing class from Cox produce an annual fashion show to benefit Seton Youth Shelters.
Molloy said that Grehan served as one of the chairs of the benefit show and that some of her designs were featured.
