Seton Youth Services' Find Me Hampton Roads
As part of our commitment to providing lifesaving and life-changing support to the region’s most vulnerable children and teens—precisely when they need it most—Seton Youth Services continues to develop essential prevention and intervention programs for children and families.
Our Youth Outreach Program (YOP) already plays a vital role in the community through direct neighborhood outreach, educational initiatives, a 24-hour crisis hotline, and a mobile counseling team. Now, YOP is expanding its impact with the launch of our Find Me Hampton Roads (Find Me HR) project, a new initiative focused on locating and reuniting missing youth ages 0-18 with their families.
Through Find Me Hampton Roads, We Are Committed to Keeping Hampton Roads’ Youth Safe, Supported & Connected
Seton Youth Services is committed to reuniting missing youth with their families in the Hampton Roads region through our Find Me HR program. As the only licensed National Safe Place organization in Southeastern Virginia, we offer 42 Safe Place sites throughout the region where youth in crisis can access a safe environment and immediate assistance through our 24-hour hotline 757-498-HELP (4-3-5-7). Here’s how we help:
- Distributing Flyers: We maintain an online and hardcopy library of missing youth from the Hampton Roads area, which is regularly updated on our website and Facebook page.
- Connecting with Authorities: Each virtual flyer has the corresponding police department’s contact information to facilitate swift communication.
- Crisis Hotline: Our 24-hour crisis hotline 757-498-HELP (4-3-5-7) responds to calls related to missing children in Hampton Roads, providing immediate support and guidance.
- SafePlace Emergency Response: When a missing child reaches out for help, we refer and dispatch our SafePlace Emergency Response team as appropriate to assist them on-site.
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement: We work closely with law enforcement, families, and the community to produce and distribute missing child information and flyers, maximizing visibility.
- Community Education: Our outreach efforts include educating the community on how to report missing children, helping to raise awareness and encourage action.
- Social Media Engagement: We create and publish regular social media posts and broadcast media updates to keep the public informed about missing children in the Hampton Roads area.
When a youth contacts a Safe Place, two of our dedicated staff members are dispatched to the location within 60 minutes to assess their situation. If identified as a victim of trafficking, the youth is immediately taken to a safe shelter. Each year, an estimated 20-30 youth who access Safe Place services enter Seton’s Shelter Program to resolve their crises.
We are committed to partnering with our community to bring missing youth back home. Please like our Facebook page to stay updated on the latest information about missing youth in Hampton Roads and our Find Me HR Program. Together, we can make a difference.
